2020 Chevy Spark Performance
All Chevy Sparks have the same 1.4L ECOTEC 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 98 horsepower at 94 pounds-feet of torque. Because the Chevrolet Spark is a small car, the vehicle has been designed to maximize its overall efficiency. So that you don’t feel nervous when you extensively travel inside the city. Since this is not a performance vehicle, so don’t expect the car to hit sixty miles per hour under six or five seconds.
The small proportion of the car along with its low curb weight, this car is economical at its best. So, if the demand is for an economical, practical and most importantly, a reliable car the Chevvy Spark is a perfect choice.
In terms of acceleration, the 2020 Spark can reach 60 mph in 10 seconds, which is not an impressive timing. Both the transmission options protest when attempts are made to accelerate or push hard. The five-speed manual transmission does provide adequate pull when pitted against the CVT, though both protest at higher speeds. The CVT is best suited for low-speed city driving as it is very sluggish and slow in terms of response.
|0-60 MPH||10.7 seconds|
|Quarter Mile||18.0 (estd.)|
|Emission (Tons/yr of CO2 Emissions @ 15k mi/yr)||15.3|
The lightweight of the 2020 Chevrolet Spark makes it a very nimble vehicle to drive. Despite having a small 1.4-liter engine, the Spark makes up for it by offering great handling experience. The steering wheel feels well-weighted and provides plenty of feedback, so all in all, the Chevy Spark feels pretty good to drive.
The 2020 Chevrolet Spark gets 9.3 inches front disc brakes and a pair of 7.9 inches rear drum brakes. The brakes respond firmly and accurately thereby effectively slowing down the vehicle. The Sparks braking is further effective due to the vehicle’s lightweight.
|Front Brakes size (Inches)||9.3|
|Rear Brakes size (Inches)||7.9|
Riding and Handling
When it comes to driving in the city, the Spark is the most enjoyable car. It feels more at home in the city than on highways. With a shorter wheelbase to length ratio, getting the Spark out from tight spaces is an easy feat. The compact design of the Spark helps a lot, especially when reversing the car.
When it comes to the highway, the Spark gets tired easily. Firstly, the engine is not designed for high revs, so at high speeds, the stress can be clearly felt and heard. Also, tire noise tends to seep into the cabin and it becomes pretty noisy. On top of that, the lightweight of the car works against the Spark when caught in crosswinds.
2020 Chevy Spark Fuel Economy
The 2020 Chevrolet Spark really shines in terms of the fuel economy. Chevrolet has tweaked the engine and the transmission system to maximize its efficiency. The 2020 Spark has a fuel economy of 30 miles per gallon in the city and 38 Mpg on the highway. The combined fuel economy is around 32-33 miles per gallon.

At the center of the dashboard, you’ll have the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system below which controls the air conditioning system. Overall the layout of the dash is minimalistic and straightforward. There are plenty of hard touch plastics across the cabin, and one can barely spot the use of any premium materials. The base trims of the Spark might not entice you as much as the higher trims, where the addition of certain features enhance the cabin feel.
How are the seats like?
The seats of the 2020 Chevrolet Spark are quite narrow and don’t provide excellent lateral support. The front seats are four-way manually adjustable as standard. The higher ACTIV and 2LT get heated front seats coupled with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The ACTIV and 2LT variants are also equipped with a leatherette seat trim. The front seats can be adjusted to fit an adult at the back which is otherwise quite cramped. Overall, the places are okay for short journeys, something that the Spark is built for so long haul journeys in the Spark is not recommended.
Let’s just address it right away, the Chevrolet Spark is not high on cargo space. The compact design mantra leaves just 11.10 cu ft. of space for cargo. Spark’s cargo space. Though, you get the option to fold the rear seats that increases the space to 27.2 cu ft. It’s just that, the rear seats don’t fold flat
The 2020 Spark gets Chevrolet’s latest Infotainment system. The 7-inch touchscreen system is responsive and user-friendly. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay comes standard along with USB data ports. Furthermore, Bluetooth audio streaming, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity are available and SiriusXM satellite radio connectivity is available in upper trim levels. The system also supports AM/FM functionality. All trims have a six-speaker audio system except for the base LS variant which gets a four-speaker setup.

At the front, the familiar large headlights are separated by a huge grill that is separated from the top by the bumper, where the Chevrolet badge is present. Chrome accents on the border grille some parts of the headlights add a certain panache to the Chevvy Spark’s exterior. As exciting the front fascia of the Spark is, the rear end of the car is not that dramatic. With the exceptions of neatly hiding the rear door panel near the roofline, the rear fascia is more on the minimalist side. Overall, the 2020 Chevrolet Spark has an attractive design which might be appealing for some and might not be for the others.

Just by looking at it, the 2020 Fit comes across as a spacious vehicle for it is bigger than the Spark. The Fit trumps over the Spark’s weakest area; the engine and transmission.
