The Blazer name is extremely iconic in terms of the Bow-Tie manufacturer, Chevrolet. The Chevy Blazer has had a cult following after itself and the fact that Chevrolet has brought out a compact SUV for 2019 MY with the same name makes it pretty apparent that Chevrolet really wants to cash into the name value of the Blazer heritage.
The following image rendering is in no way, shape or form, a finalized product or even a concept as there are no plans to put this idea into production as of yet or even be remotely connected to General Motors production, but helps us visualize a pickup truck that has the same design language as the modern Chevrolet Blazer and thus comes off as an extremely sharp looking vehicle.
If we notice in the front, the familiar and characteristic front end of the modern Blazer styling becomes extremely apparent as the front fascia has the exact same front grille, horizontal grille insert, slim headlamps, and black fog lamp housings.
Towards the rear of the rendering, we notice that it is the B-Pillar where all the differences become visible as the rear doors of the Compact SUV bid farewell for a sleek looking trunk bed which conforms to the single cab configuration. The rear three-quarters of the vehicle look extremely purposeful as they form a proportionate looking rear end that certainly strikes as sleek and modern. The rear fender line flows into the tail lamps which are integrated into the tailgate with the “Dual Spear” inner graphics which follow suit to the trapezoidal exhaust tips integrated with the bumper.
The presented modern rendering of the Blazer inspired to pick up truck could easily be accommodated by Chevrolet into their line-up as it could fall directly under Colorado as a monocoque pick-up, suited for light tasks where the consumer appreciates the functionality of a pickup bed but doesn’t require the extreme off-road ability or boatloads of towing prowess. Though we do believe that a production version of the rendering would be inclined towards aesthetics rather than pure function we can’t really dismiss the fact that there is a huge market for the same.
The Blazer name though has been brought to life in the form of a compact SUV, is in our opinion, not something that imbibes the true spirit of the original Blazer. Yes, this rendering isn’t something that gives you an insight into a product that is similar to the original Blazer but still certainly carries forward the spirit of the Chevrolet Blazer, much more effectively than the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer.
