Recently, Chevrolet Commercial announced the new changes in the Chevrolet Silverado MD truck at the NTEA Work Truck Show. These changes will be visible in the upcoming 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks. The new medium-duty Chevrolet Silverado cab trucks will have increased performance power and flexibility for up-fitting, as mentioned Chevrolet automaker in a recent press release.

The key highlights of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks include a 23 percent hike in hauling capability, a mechanical locking rear axle, auxiliary switch bank, and left-hand power take-off capability. Elaboratively, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks will be able to tow a maximum gross combined weight of 37,000 pounds.

Similarly, the mechanical locking rear axle of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado MD trucks can automatically lock tires when it detects slippage. Therefore, this feature will enhance the traction of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado MD trucks both off-road and on slippery tracks. Additionally, as mentioned before, both the auxiliary switch bank and left-hand power take-off capability are new features introduced in the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks.

The auxiliary switch bank comes along with six more uplift switches on the headliner. Aside from this, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks also come with an extended side-view mirror that provider better side-view visibility to the driver and enhances the driving experience.

Furthermore, as mentioned earlier, the left-hand power take-off capability is also a new feature introduced in the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks. This feature provides access to PTO ports from either truck sides. In addition to this, these cab trucks also have an option for longer axle-to-end-of-frame. This feature utilizes longer upfit bodies and provides greater flexibility for short wheelbase trims.

The Chevrolet Silverado MD pickup trucks were introduced way back in 2018 and were a replacement for the 2009 Chevrolet Kodiak that got discontinued. They were launched for the first time at the NTEA Work Truck Show, Indianapolis. However, the sale of the first medium-duty Chevrolet Silverado trucks began in 2019.

The production of the medium-duty Chevrolet Silverado trucks was an initiative and venture of General Motors (GM) and Navistar International. But, Navistar International manufactured these trucks at their Springfield, Ohio plant.

The Chevrolet Silverado trucks incorporate a 6.6-liter turbodiesel L5D V8 Duramax engine that generates a 350 hp and 700 lb-ft torque. GM produced the L5D V8 Duramax engines at the GM Duramax plat located in Moraine, Ohio.

Besides these features, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks will have the safety and advanced assistance available in its segment. We eagerly await more updates from GM and Navistar International on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks upgrades.
