Chevrolet Silverado is a full-size heavy-duty pickup truck in the Chevrolet two pickup trucks lineup. It started in 1998 after a long run of the Chevrolet C/K lineup and the name Silverado name came from the trim in the Chevrolet C/K lineup.
Chevrolet Silverado HD is the heavy-duty addition in the Chevy Silverado family and as the name suggests this pickup does all the heavy stuff without breaking a sweat. Also, there are various other models available such as the 2500 HD, 3500HD and many more. Starting at a price of $34,000, GM has sold over 12 million units of Chevy Silverado since it began production.
According to a recent depreciation projection by Kelly Blue Book, The 2020 Chevy Silverado HD will hold onto 60% of its market value even after 5 years of usage which is not so commonly seen in cars and trucks.
This projection by KBB suggests that the all-new Silverado HD will be in the interest of many buyers who are looking for a Used Chevy Silverado HD. Its durability and strong payload, towing capacity and comfortable ride quality just add more points for its resale value.
The 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD WT trim starts from $35,695 and the range-topping High Country model costs around $70,000. The engine options in the 2020 Sivoerado HD trims are:
- 6.6L L5P Duramax diesel V8
- 6.6L L8T gas V8
Both the engines pack a very powerful punch and comes mated to two different kinds of transmissions. The 6.6L L8T gas engine comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission whereas on the other hand the Duramax engine comes paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission which is Allison-branded.
GMC and Chevrolet share their platform to make two of the best pickup trucks ever driven: Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra. GMC Sierra is built on the same platform and KBB predicts that this pickup truck will hold the second rank in the used market value. Many buyers will also consider the 2020 GMC Sierra due to features identical to that of the Silverado. The price range is also the same as that of Silverado’s i.e. starting a price of $30,000 and the range-topping model going up to $70,000.
The third-place goes to the 2020 Ram HD, a pickup truck that will retain up to 57% of its market value after 5 years of usage. There was one another truck in this list, the 2020 Ford Super Duty which is clearly last as KBB made no comment on this truck’s depreciation rate.
Apart from this list, two other GM vehicles made it to KBB’s Best Resale Value Awards:
- 2020 GMC Yukon
- 2020 Chevrolet Corvette
The Yukon is a reliable and practical vehicle that will retain a decent amount of value. C8 Corvette, on the other hand, is the first mid-engine Corvette ever produced so naturally, it will attract a lot of buyers to it. The Corvette already retains a good amount of value being the first mid-engine car in the Corvette family.
