What’s new in 2019 Chevrolet Camaro?
The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro comes as a refreshed car for the year and receives a host of updates which includes updated front fascia, a restyled rear look, infotainment. On the performance side, the 1LE track performance package is now available with the base variant, and the SS variant now equips the 10-speed automatic instead of 8-speed. On the safety front, forward collision alert is now available and is made standard on 2SS & ZL1 models.
Whenever the world talks about the American muscle cars, only three of the names come to mind – Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger. Among this trio, the Camaro is the one which makes the most impact on the masses. The impact could be because of the its relation with the “Transformers” series. But putting the Hollywood Camaro aside Chevy made sure that every one knows their potential in making the best american muscle car.
While Dodge is putting more and more power in its cars and Ford is refining its Mustang, Chevrolet, on the other side has given the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro a complete makeover. Take it for a spin, and you will quickly realise that it is sharper and more purposeful than any of its rivals. Offering a gamut of engine options and trim levels to select from, the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro has made it to top 5 American sports car list. To sum it all, it comes as an all-rounder.
What Trims and Features are available for the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro?
Chevrolet Camaro comes in 7 different trim levels. With a starting price of $25,995, LS comes as the base model, but if you look at the feature list, it’s not basic at all. LS was designed to introduce the Camaro lineup with just the right amount power and with a thought to tame the hot hatches, but it’s only available with coupe body style.
With the starting price of $26,495, the LT trims – 1LT, 2LT & 3LT, are more loaded than the LS version. On the 1LT, which is also the base trim level for the convertible, offers remote start, satellite radio, and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The 2LT adds dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery & auto-dimming rearview mirror. The 3LT comes up with a GPS navigation system, illuminated vanity mirrors, blind-spot monitoring, and forward-collision warning.
At $37,995, the SuperSport or the SS trim starts which are the entry-level performance-oriented variants and equip a 6.2-liter V8. The 1SS gets a 6.2-liter V8, a six-speed manual transmission, 20-inch wheels, four-piston Brembo brakes, performance suspension & a mechanical limited-slip differential while the 2SS comes with most of the features from 3LT but the navigation for this variant is optional.
And last but not the least, the ZL1 comes as the top of the line performance beast with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, at $62,995. The ZL1 is essentially a 2SS with the 1LE options.
We would recommend going for 2SS. It’s well-equipped – be it engine performance or the features, everything is top-notch, and this car looks a little bit different due to its redesigned front fascia. You have that breath-taking performance from 6.2-liter V8 and some of the quirky features which would uplift the driving experience.

When it comes to the acceleration, the Camaro stands strong. It can easily outclass an even spec mustang on a quarter-mile run. The 2.0-liter I4 manages to clock just over 5-secs in a 0-60 dash. While the 3.6-liter V6 does the same in 4.8 secs, the 6.2-liter V8 for the SS trim did this at around 4-sec mark, and the top-end 6.2-liter supercharged V8 was staggering fast with a time of 3.5 sec time.
The brakes are precise and have a high stopping power with a reassuring feel. This could be proved while looking at the numbers. The LT trim with V6 came to a halt from 70mph in 113 feet while this number went down to 105 feet with summer tires. On the ZL1, due to the standard Brembo brakes, this number comes down to around 100 feet.
2019 Chevy Camaro Fuel Economy
Chevrolet Camaro may be a sports car with a big motor at its heart, but it is not a fuel guzzler. The 2.0-liter engine gives you a mixed economy of 23 with manual and 25 with automatic which, considering the power it generates, is good. But as you move to bigger engines, the fuel economy comes down but not by a huge margin. Finally, the ZL1 offers a combined EPA rating of 16 mpg.

Seating and Comfort
Comfort is not an issue in this car even though it is somewhat shorter and cramped than its rivals. The well-shaped front seats offer good support, but the bottom cushion might feel a bit tight to some. We also like its adequately padded door and center armrests. Unsurprisingly, the back seat is cramped even for short drives. So keep in mind about the rear leg room before getting yourself a Camaro.
The Camaro comes standard with a respectable level of infotainment technology features. The MyLink 3 system looks slick, reacts quickly, and offers all the phone connectivity features you could want.
The screen sits at a weird angle and can look small, but it is easy to interact with and see. The base infotainment system uses the OnStar subscription for navigation. Or it can use your phone. The larger, optional display has navigation on board. The stereo is adequate & support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is standard on all models, which isn’t the case on the Mustang. Wireless charging is available on higher trim levels.
